Synth Build: Harmonizer

I implemented this prototype as something between a look and feel and an implementation type model. There was not constructed onto a panel, but the sound and situational usability is what was explored here. I made what I call a harmonizer circuit on a breadboard to tweak and refine a design idea that had beenContinue reading “Synth Build: Harmonizer”

Synth Build: MIDI to CV

This is easily one of the most complex and difficult parts of the synthesizer. This circuit is responsible for taking the MIDI controller’s input (keyboard) and turning it into a 1V/octave control voltage. This control voltage will be used to drive the VCOs and make them sound out the proper notes. This circuit also needsContinue reading “Synth Build: MIDI to CV”

Synth Build: VCO #2

This is actually one of the few modules in this build that are not designed by Ray Wilson. They were designed by Thomas Henry. The schematics are indeed his intellectual property as are technically Ray Wilson’s. However, this synth will not be a commercial product so I should be fine. I needed another VCO toContinue reading “Synth Build: VCO #2”

Synth Build: Envelope Generator and VCA

First of all, ADSR is Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release; VCA is Voltage-Controlled Amplifier. These two circuits work in tandem with each other and the rest of the modules to produce correct amplitude modulation of the signal. That is to say, it controls the intensity of a note/sound and if it is on or off.Continue reading “Synth Build: Envelope Generator and VCA”
